Poem or Song Broadside
This project consists of expressing a song or poem through typography. One of my favorite songs, "Love Again" by Ryan Librada, resonates with me through a variety of expressive languages that effectively convey the song's emotions.
Phase 1
Reaserch

When beginning any project, it’s essential first to gain a thorough understanding of the subject matter. This foundation allows for expressing ideas in more meaningful and symbolic ways. For this project, we were given the opportunity to select three songs and explore the lyrics that best conveyed the emotions we wanted to capture. From there, our professor provided thoughtful feedback, guiding us toward refining our vision and ultimately choosing one sketch to develop further.
Phase 2
Finalizing sketches
After narrowing down the selection to one song and a specific lyric, the next step was to refine the creative direction. I created a new set of sketches that focused on visually interpreting the chosen lyric in more detail. From there, the finalized sketch was carefully developed into a digital version, allowing the design to take on a polished and expressive form.

Phase 3
Color Theme
As part of the digital process, I explored different color themes for the fonts to bring out the emotion behind the lyric. To guide this, I searched Google for images connected to the words and mood of the song, using them as inspiration for my palette choices. This visual research helped me experiment with combinations of contrast, harmony, and readability, until I found a color theme that not only matched the feeling of the lyric but also made the typography visually striking and expressive
Phase 4A
Poster Sketch
In the next phase, I created additional sketches that combined imagery with our letter designs. This process allowed me to experiment with how visuals and typography could interact, blending symbolic elements from the song’s lyric with the letterforms. By layering imagery into the sketches, the designs became more dynamic and expressive, adding depth and meaning beyond the text itself.

Phase 4B
Degitalizing Poster
Once we felt good about the sketches, the next step was to bring them to life in Adobe Illustrator. Turning the hand-drawn ideas into a digital format gave the design a cleaner and more polished look, while still keeping the original creativity. It also gave us room to play around with colors, shapes, and layout in a way that felt more flexible and exciting.

Phase 5
Stagram Post & Finishing touches
For the final stage, I created a version of the design specifically formatted for Instagram, focusing on how it would appear in a digital and social media setting. This process involved refining the layout, experimenting with color choices, and adding finishing touches to ensure the design felt polished, engaging, and visually striking for an online audience.
